Miraba el reloj, eran las 5 de la mañana. Al día siguiente le esperaba el juicio más importante de su vida. A estas alturas ya no se preguntaba si era más difícil conciliar el sueño o su trabajo de fiscal con su papel de madre. Necesitaba ayuda para descansar, pero no para convencer al jurado. Allí dentro eran dos gladiadores iguales, armados con la ley y la retórica, dispuestos a aprovechar la más mínima oportunidad para descuartizar a su rival. Conocía al abogado defensor, ese pedante que la miraba por encima del hombro por ser mujer. Pero había superado la barrera del género hace tiempo, justo cuando se divorciaron. Por fin cayó dormida, tenía los ojos cerrados pero poseía ese gesto de decisión y confianza. Sabía que iba a ganar.

And this one, to my mind, is very cool. I love the dark hue of the blue dial surface, and – from afar – the graining gives off a sense of link staring at the sky at night in a remote locale where most residents have never even seen a city. You can see Mars from there. Whether that’s the intended effect of this pattern or not, I don’t care. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The first Carreras were defined by their link minimalist approach. On most models, the scales were removed from the dial, and the inner tension ring / bezel would serve two purposes – providing the spacing between the dial and the crystal and also providing the surface for the hash-marks showing the seconds and fifths of seconds. From these launch models in 1963, Heuer would develop over 125 versions of the Carrera, with it finally being retired in the mid-1980s.
