Cuando llegué, había tras aquella reja un cartel que rezaba «prohibido delinquir» y varios cigarrillos en el suelo, contuve la risa. Tuve que cotejar dos veces la dirección para asegurarme de que estaba en el lugar correcto, y me resultó muy inquietante que mi cliente me hubiese citado allí.
«Buenos días, letrada», respondí con una mueca y me introduje en aquella nave industrial.
-Ya sabe por qué está usted aquí, ¿verdad?
-Por supuesto, enhorabuena por su libertad condicional, han pasado muchos años.
-Desde luego…Hoy es el aniversario de la muerte de mi esposa. Dos décadas después, aún la recuerdo en aquel baile del instituto. No debió morir, no quise matarla.
Descolgué el teléfono y entraron en la nave seis agentes policiales y varios médicos, quedando el hombre inmovilizado en apenas segundos.
Tras muchos años, todavía sigo visitando a mi marido en el hospital psiquiátrico, aunque él me crea muerta.
