El interrogatorio del fiscal presionando a su cliente, llevó a este a adoptar una postura beligerante que no le favorecía en absoluto. Con sus incisivas preguntas, la acusación provocó un eclipse temporal en la memoria de su defendido y el abogado se vio forzado a cambiar su estrategia sobre la marcha. Consultaba los gráficos de la contabilidad, ansioso por encontrar una salida a la desastrosa panorámica que divisaba desde su asiento: un acusado envalentonado; un fiscal enardecido; un juez permisivo; y él, un abogado completamente desorientado. Como era posible que en unos minutos se desmoronase el trabajo de meses preparando el juicio?
Al finalizar la sesión, el fiscal realizó una sorprendente propuesta al acusado: si reconocía su culpabilidad, rebajaría su petición de pena. El abogado miró a su cliente y este, guiñándole un ojo, hizo un gesto afirmativo con la cabeza. Ahora estaba todo claro. Habían negociado a sus espaldas.

One of the few minor improvements Brette made between models is to enlarge the hands for legibility. But they’re not just more legible because of their size. The top edge of the hour hand «circle» is polished silver, with the angled portions in gold so they stand out from the black dial. The stems of the hands are also so highly link polished that they reflect black on the top in a dark room while picking up edges of light that make the hands still stand out.
Lot 43, a Patek ref. 3428 in white gold, will stand out as a highlight for true vintage Patek lovers. This is a rare reference to begin with, the short-lived successor to the 2526, and incredibly rare in white gold. White metal 2426s or 3428s always seem to go insane at auction. Given that this example has a perfect dial, a period-correct-although-recently-added Patek mesh link bracelet, and full set, it should see a ton of bids, pushing towards mid or high estimate (stated as CHF 300,000-500,000).
